Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector has an opening for a Systems Model-Based Engineering (MBE) CAD/PLM Tools Engineer (2/3)to join our Model Based Engineering Tools team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Engineering department. This position is located in Melbourne, Florida. This position can be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
The MBE Tools Engineer leverages prior engineering design/analysis experience to support Model-based Analysis (MBA), Model-based Design (MBD), Model-based Manufacturing (MBM), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) initiatives related to engineering tools development. The candidate works independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of Engineering Tools and exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of the assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maturation of digital thread between engineering and manufacturing
  • Engineering CAD/PLM tools development and maturation of requirements
  • Documentation of engineering use cases
  • Validation and testing of CAD/PLM tool functionality
  • Creation of training/best practice documentation
  • Provide subject matter expert (SME) user support
  • Develop/update sector processes for CAD/PLM

Basic Qualifications for Systems Model-Based Engineering (MBE) CAD/PLM Tools Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 2 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Model-Based Engineering (MBE) CAD/PLM Tools Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development discipline OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Experience working in an aerospace design environment. Emphasis placed in the following disciplines: Structural Design/Analysis, Subsystems Design/Analysis, Electrical/Mechanical Routing, or Mechanism Design/Analysis.
  • Experience working with Teamcenter and NX (or equivalent PDM/PLM and CAD/CAE applications).
  • Experience developing code for utilities.
  • Communicates effectively and clearly presents technical approaches and recommendations.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of SysML
  • Familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering practices and implementation
  • Experience using system modeling tools (Cameo preferred) to solve systems engineering problems.
  • Experience defining requirements with DOORS

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
