What is a computer science new grad?
A Computer Science New Grad job is an entry-level position designed for recent graduates with a degree in computer science or a related field. These roles typically focus on software development, data analysis, cybersecurity, or IT support, depending on the company. Employers seek candidates with strong programming skills, problem-solving abilities, and knowledge of industry-standard tools and technologies. New grads often receive mentorship and training to help them transition into professional environments.
What do computer science new grads do?
As a Computer Science New Grad, you will often start with foundational tasks such as fixing bugs, developing small features, writing tests, and assisting in code reviews. These assignments help you become familiar with the company's codebase, workflows, and development tools while providing opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues. You may also be involved in team meetings, participating in project planning sessions, and collaborating with other developers, product managers, or QA specialists. Over time, as you gain experience and confidence, you'll likely take on larger, more complex projects with greater responsibility. This structured approach allows new grads to build essential skills and smoothly transition into more advanced roles.
What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a computer science new grad?

Each day, our professionals provide exceptional service, helping clients with advice and insight they can trust. In turn, we offer an award-winning environment that fosters apeople-first culturewith a high priority on your personal and professional growth.
Your Opportunity
We are looking for an exceptionally skilled, hands-on, and innovation-minded Full Stack Developer, to build complex web applications, AI agents and APIs in our new Assurance Innovation Lab (ASR Labs).
The Assurance Innovation R&D Lab (ASR Labs) serves as the experimentation, innovation, and solution development engine supporting our Assurance practice. Working alongside other functions nationally - including our Innovation Operations, AI Studio - Central Lab, Central Data Team, and Innovation & Change (I&C) - you will help ideate, design, prototype, develop, and deliver, scalable solutions that modernize how work gets done across our Assurance practice.
In this net new role you will work with a team dedicated to building modern applications, intelligent workflow solutions, integrations, and AI-enabled platforms that support business transformation and operational modernization initiatives across our practice. You will be reporting to our Head of ASR Transformation, and have a dotted line to our technically astute managers in our AI Studio - Central Lab.
This role goes beyond traditional application development. We are looking for a persistent and creative problem-solver who can think strategically about workflow modernization, scalability, integration, and user experience while delivering high-quality technical solutions.
The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience developing innovative and highly scalable platforms and solutions. Hands-on experience spanning both front-end interfaces and back-end services and databases - full stack proficiency - is a prerequisite in this role. Cross-functional work experience is also critical.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development & Engineering
Design, develop, and maintain modern full stack applications, APIs, and intelligent workflow solutions
Build scalable, secure, and high-performing platforms leveraging modern cloud-native architectures
Develop intuitive user interfaces and business-facing applications that improve operational efficiency and user experience
Support integration between data platforms, AI services, workflow tools, and enterprise systems
Build reusable services and frameworks that support scalable transformation initiatives across Assurance
AI & Intelligent Workflow Enablement
Collaborate with Data Scientists and AI teams to integrate AI, automation, and intelligent capabilities into applications and workflows
Support development of AI-enabled tools, copilots, workflow automation solutions, and intelligent operational platforms
Help operationalize prototypes and experimentation efforts into production-ready solutions
Support modernization of workflows and operational processes through technology-enabled solutions
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Partnership
Partner closely with Transformation Relationship Managers (TRMs), Assurance practitioners, Innovation & Change (I&C), Data & Analytics, and leadership teams
Participate in multidisciplinary teams focused on solving business problems through technology, AI, automation, and workflow redesign
Support rapid prototyping, experimentation, and scaling of innovative solutions within the Assurance R&D Lab
Participate in discovery sessions, design thinking workshops, ideation sessions, and solution design activities
Help bridge business needs, operational realities, and technical execution to accelerate transformation outcomes
Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
DevOps, Scalability & Engineering Excellence
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices
Support cloud deployment, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational reliability
Ensure solutions follow best practices for security, scalability, maintainability, and performance
Contribute to engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and technical governance
Support agile delivery and iterative development approaches within transformation initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering or a related field.
Full stack proficiency earned through experience, not entitlement.
Proficiency in front-end frameworks like React, Next, Angular, or Vue.js. Able to build dynamic web interfaces and user experiences.
Expertise in back-end languages like Node.js, Python, Java, Go, C#, and associated frameworks. Able to develop robust and scalable APIs and microservices.
In-depth experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL.
Track record of using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, or GCP to build and deploy cloud-based solutions.
Experience with fully automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment pipelines.
Passion for well-designed systems, learning new technologies and programming languages.
Excellent communication, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and debug software issues.
