Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Software Development Eng. to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for enhancements and new products, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.  Deliver software components for solutions for MPSoC products. Define the software needs for future and developing products.  Develop Reference Designs and Platforms, which include development of application software system software code. Integrate software components into domain specific software frameworks for video and multimedia. Develop documentation, demonstrations and work on solving customer escalations in system software. Set operational specifications and formulate and/or analyze software requirements. Partake in all phases of the software development including system requirements analysis, coordinating feature design and development across functional and organization boundaries. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various company products.

Doctorate degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

  • Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL;
  • Logic and circuit design;
  • CPU or GPU architecture;
  • Designing and implementing software and hardware solutions;
  • Performing software quality assurance testing;

  • Developing and testing software for electronic devices;
  • Power and energy consumption estimation and measurement; and
  • Memory footprint optimization.

Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
