Job description

Position Overview
The HOP is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Community Engagement Intern to support our marketing, outreach, and communications efforts. This role is perfect for a college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business who enjoys interacting with the public, representing a mission-driven organization, and bringing creative ideas to life.
The Community Engagement Intern will play a key role in helping us connect with riders and the community at large through events, social media, and outreach initiatives. This position offers hands-on experience in community relations, marketing, and public engagement within the public transit industry.
Responsibilities:
  • Set up, work, and tear down community and campus event booths (including tents and tables as needed)
  • Represent The HOP at public events, engaging with attendees and promoting awareness of our services
  • Collect and document engagement data, including number of attendees, common questions, feedback, and popular promotional items
  • Provide post-event reports and summaries to the Marketing Director
  • Support the creation of social media content and other marketing materials
  • Assist with various marketing, communications, and outreach projects as needed
  • Serve as an ambassador for the brand and spread enthusiasm for public transportation

Requirements:
  • Current college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business
  • Access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift boxes and set up event materials (tents, tables, banners, etc.)
  • Positive, outgoing personality and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly when needed
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document engagement activities accurately
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva, and social media platforms

Work Schedule & Compensation:
  • Paid internship up to $15/hour (based on experience)
  • Part-time, up to 15 hours per week (depending on the season and event schedule)
  • Some evening and weekend availability required for community events
  • Hybrid position: based at our Belton, TX office with fieldwork assignments
