Department:                     NYCT - Buses
Location:                          25 Jamaica Avenue, Brooklyn, NY  11207
Position Title:                   Budget Support, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate:                    $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate)
 
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
 
 
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Buses is made up of two distinct agencies operating across five boroughs. Across the two agencies, we operate a total of 27 depots and employ more than 18,000 people. Our team manages a budget of 2.4 billion from the Department of Buses. We also oversee the development and management of the Bus Operator Platform Budget while collaborating with Human Resources to determine Bus Operator staffing requirements and support annual hiring plans.
 
The intern will be performing reporting and data analysis task. They will also assist in the development of dashboard creation.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in creating reporting dashboards including but not limited to:
  • Cross-check weekly Employee Availability data.
  • Overtime decomposition reporting.
  • Budget OTPS variance analysis.
  • Headcount reporting.
  • Review Pay hour variance analysis.
  • Labor costing analysis.
  • Cross checked monthly financial reporting for accuracy.
 
PROJECTS:
Assist in improving our data management and performance reporting tools. Assisting in the creation of training materials (both physical and electronic) for Buses Hourly and Supervisory employees:
  • Assisting in creating dashboard metrics.
  • Participating in a broad range of Financial and operational analysis.
  • Assisting in the creation of training materials.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
  • Major(s) Preferred: Accounting, Application Development, Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Marketing, Transportation, or related field.
