Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Work under direction of the Chief Development Officer to support the store development department and gain hands-on real estate, store planning and facilities management experience. Learn various aspects of store development functions at Shopko Optical. Work on projects that meet both educational goals as well as financial goals of the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

INTERPRETATION

• Participate in meetings and team discussions to gain insight and contribute to team goals or projects

• Gain an understanding of site selection, market strategy, and lease negotiations for new store growth

• Assist in real estate approval package preparation • Gain an understanding of the real estate, construction, and store planning processes for remodels and new builds

• Learn how projects are designed, estimated, approved, and managed through construction

Discover how fixtures and equipment are ordered and assist in matching plans to budget

• Exposure to facilities management processes and procedures • Perform research and/or analysis on specific topics

• Additional duties as assigned


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• Currently pursuing or recent graduate with degree in construction, architecture, real estate or another related technical field

• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking

• Attention to detail

• Well organized with good time management skills

• Collaborative personality and the ability to work within a team • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Able to thrive within a fast-paced environment

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of programs


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication

• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time • Able to operate various office equipment (e.g., personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.)

• Able to read and write at a high school graduate level

• Able to lift 10 to 20 pounds

• Able to view/read computer screen for extended periods of time

• Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines

• Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
