Job Description
SOSi is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our analytics team working on an innovative MLOps workload leveraging cutting-edge technologies and supporting a government customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This role will be responsible for delivering automation to key national security missions interacting with petabyte-scale data on supercomputing resources.
The ideal candidate will have a background in AI/ML model development and have experience in Python programming, handling SQL databases, and working in command line interfaces. You will leverage scientific techniques to transform petabyte-scale data into insightful data products to enable dta-driven decisions. You will perform using Scrumban techniques and be embedded with end users.
The team will work with technologies including:
  • Open source, commercial, and government software packages such as Docker, Python, Jupyter Notebooks, PostgreSQL, and other tools.
  • Leverage GitOps patterns and CI/CD with tools like GitLab and GitHub.

Essential Job Duties
  • Develop and deploy data science solutions leveraging Python or similar languages.
  • Utilize Linux for development of data processing and model deployment.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to improve data colleciton, quality, and access.
  • Prioritize tasks efficiently and adapt solutions to meet project requirements.
  • Document processes and outcomes for transparency and future reference.
  • Write clean, testable, maintainable code in Python and other languages.

Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or other quantitative field.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Data Engineer/Scientist or advanced analytical role
  • Programming knowledge in Python or similar language.
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and Agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of software design and system integration.
