Job description

Summary

The intern/aide will receive training on machine learning algorithms, implementing them, and fitting them on the datasets in the cluster computers. Overall, the position will offer great exposure to genomic data science and advanced machine learning. The PI will identify the specific datasets and machine learning algorithms. The intern will implement the algorithms in Python/R and fit them on the datasets in the cluster computers. This is part-time position, 16 hours/week. 

Job Duties
  • Learns to formulate machine learning problems.
  • Learns to implement machine learning algorithms using Python/R.
  • Learns to fit machine learning models on biological data.
  • Identifies the specific datasets and machine learning algorithms.
  • Implements the algorithms in Python/R and fit them on the datasets in our cluster computers.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in program for computer science or statistics or computational biolgy or biomedical sciences. 
  • Strong skills in computer science and programming (algorithm implementation, data structure, and machine learning).
  • Familiarity with cutting-edge models such as foundation models, large language models, diffusion models, is a plus.
