Description & Requirements

Elder Research Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MANTECH international Corporation seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Data Engineer to join our team in Arlington, VA. This is a hybrid position with several days onsite over the course of a month.

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the infrastructure and pipelines powering mission-critical fraud detection analytics. This role ensures reliable integration, execution, and performance of analytical workflows across both legacy and modern analytics environments.

The ideal candidate brings deep engineering expertise and experience supporting analytics in large-scale production systems within regulated environments.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and analytical infrastructure supporting fraud detection analytics.
  • Integrate analytical models and rules into operational production systems.
  • Ensure reliability and continuity of production analytics workflows during operational cycles.
  • Support testing, validation, and migration of analytical models and logic across platforms.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and feature engineering for large-scale analytics datasets.
  • Collaborate with IT and platform teams to resolve data and infrastructure issues.
  • Support modernization efforts to improve scalability and performance of analytical environments.
  • Maintain documentation for data pipelines, analytical workflows, and system integrations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field such as statistics, computer science, economics, mathematics, analytics, data science, data engineering, business, or social sciences
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or production analytics system support.
  • 3+ years supporting analytics in fraud detection, compliance, identity theft, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Strong experience supporting analytics across legacy and modern enterprise platforms.
  • Expertise working with large and complex datasets in distributed environments.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python, and data engineering frameworks used in analytics development.
  • Experience with Databricks, PostgreSQL, or comparable enterprise analytics platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to support data extraction, transformation, feature engineering, and model execution pipelines.
  • Experience supporting testing, validation, troubleshooting, and migration of analytical logic and models.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS) in analytics, computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, management information systems, decision science, or related fields
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with IT teams, data scientists, and program stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills for technical and operational audiences.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must currently possess an IRS Public Trust clearance with Full Background Investigation

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
