Job Description

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist in Chicago, IL,

Job Details:

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML and advanced analytics solutions to address business, operational, and emerging technology challenges
  • Build, validate, and optimize statistical, predictive, and machine learning models using techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, time-series analysis, and deep learning
  • Develop and deliver end-to-end data solutions, including data ingestion, preparation, modeling, deployment, and insight generation
  • Evaluate model performance, monitor data and model drift, and continuously improve accuracy, reliability, and scalability of analytical solutions
  • Manage, analyze, and visualize complex datasets to support transportation systems, emerging technologies, and intelligent transportation solutions
  • Research and assess current state-of-the-practice and emerging innovations in areas such as connected and automated vehicles, smart mobility, tolling technologies, ITS systems, GIS applications, and data-driven transportation systems
  • Apply data management and systems engineering principles, frameworks, and best practices to ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance
  • Collaborate with data engineers and systems engineers to design scalable, reliable, and production-ready data pipelines and analytical platforms
  • Transform analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights through dashboards, reports, visualizations, and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Partner with internal teams and external agencies to define KPIs, performance metrics, and success criteria for data-driven initiatives
  • Support systems engineering, planning, and design efforts for emerging technology and ITS projects, including connected and automated vehicle deployments and advanced transportation technologies
  • Develop custom analytical and software tools, including conceptual designs, front-end interfaces, and back-end components
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, calculations, and visual aids for project deliverables and presentations
  • Provide project meeting support and assist with coordination among agencies, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Perform analytical, software, and systems engineering tasks using established techniques, procedures, and methodologies while exercising sound judgment in adapting solutions
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 4 days per week
Qualifications

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field of study and 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or in a related occupation.

Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field of study and 1 year of experience as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or in a related occupation.

Position requires experience in the following:

  1. Data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques, including regression, classification, clustering, time-series, optimization
  2. Developing end-to-end data solutions including data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and insight delivery
  3. Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint
  4. Programming languages, including Python, R, SQL, C++, and JavaScript
  5. Designing, deploying, and monitoring AI and ML models in production environments
  6. Cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, GCP
  7. Cloud-based analytics and ML tools, including Azure
  8. MLOps practices, Docker containerization, and CI and CD pipelines
  9. Business intelligence and visualization tools, including Power BI, Tableau, and Looker
