The Consultant, Business Solutions ("Consultant") provides tax automation services to Fortune 1000 clients by performing detail requirements analysis, process design, configuration, installation, and implementation of tax automation business and system processes for enterprise applications; as well as works with a team to identify tax savings opportunities for clients and to gain an understanding of how the client computes each component of the sales and use tax. This includes researching issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan's Key Results

People:

Create a positive team experience.

Client:
Assists with the creation of client deliverable documentation, including creating, composing, and editing written materials.
Assists with the data gathering, extraction, and analysis of client data.
Assists team in client data acquisition to support the tax technology services on a required basis.
Travels to client locations to gather data, tax returns, invoices, purchase orders, and other documentation as necessary for use in the tax technology deployment process.
Assists Managers with the provision of transaction tax consulting and advisory services.

Value:

Analyzes existing business and system processes and provides recommendations with regard to the implementation of tax automation.

Develops new process designs for tax determination.

Determines and documents business and system processes performed for tax determination and works with clients to help

review, define, and document existing transaction tax processes.

Installs and configures tax automation software solutions, implements sales and use tax automation software, and assists with day-to-day project management duties.

Creates, executes, and documents testing scenarios.

Reviews documentation and researches issues.

Works with raw data to complete calculations.

Uses computerized spreadsheets, relational databases, word processing software, and computer programming software.

Processes computer data to format and generate reports.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Business Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related study. Must have 6 hours of Accounting or the ability to substitute technical courses for accounting hours, with a 3.0 GPA or higher, and a Major GPA of 3.25 or higher. One to three years audit or tax related experience preferred.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.

Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver's license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:
Standard indoor working environment.
Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm in person and via e-mail and telephone.
Position requires regular interaction with clients and interface with external vendors in person and via e-mail and telephone.
Independent travel requirement: Up to 30-40%.

Compensation:

  • For certain Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $65,500 - $81,950.
  • The Company makes offers based on many factors, including qualifications and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation.
