Job description


THIS IS A TEMPORARY GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL FEBRUARY 28, 2027
The Postdoctoral Scholar with expertise in AI, user experience, and human-centered design, will design and implement the software underlying the user interface and dashboard, as well as conduct research and systematic evaluation of the effectiveness, efficiency, usability, and user satisfaction of an agentic AI system for improving clinical and population health research.
Responsibilities
  1. Designs and builds cutting-edge solutions based on Explainable AI.
  2. Conducts user-centered design activities, including interviews, workflow analysis, and participatory design.
  3. Designs user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, dashboards, and AI-enabled interfaces.
  4. Finetunes and optimizes designed/implemented AI/ML models.
  5. Translates user needs into intuitive, accessible software solutions with technical teams.
  6. Evaluates usability, effectiveness, accessibility, trust, and user satisfaction.
  7. Develops human-AI interaction approaches to improve transparency, trust, and adoption.
  8. Documents user requirements, design specifications, and evaluation findings.
  9. Mentors students and junior researchers in UX and usability methods.
  10. Prepares manuscripts, reports, presentations, and grant applications.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, Medical Informatics, Mathematics, etc.)
Strong track record of quantitative and analytics mastery, and expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Causal Modeling, and Knowledge Graphs. Track record of publications in top journals and conferences in the field. Outstanding interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication capabilities.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
