2nd shift Mon- Fri 3pm- 11pm

Must be able to work 2 weekend per month.

Responsibilities:

Performs all tasks involved in the repair of and installation of heavy industrial equipment throughout the plant. Follows standard work procedures and complies with all safety rules. Works from written and verbal instructions, procedures and work orders. Performs tasks in accordance with documented set practices. Maintains product quality based on established procedures. Performs other duties as directed by management.

Primary Work Duties Include:

Control all production tools in the plant

  • Extrusion, drawing, stranding, CV, and KoldWeld dies and machine, etc.

  • Orders extruder screens and breaker plates

  • Maintain inventory of all dies in the computer

  • Safe operation of drill press, bench grinder, and die polishing machines.

Maintain and control tooling using LeanSigma tools

  • Visual techniques, color coding, etc.

  • 5S, including standardization

  • Mistake proofing

Ensure that proper tooling is available and in good condition, including,

  • Replenishment

  • Clean and organize all tools after use

  • Evaluate all tools for wear and/or breakage

  • Remove from the system obsolete and damaged tooling

  • Interface directly with suppliers to order new tools and to replace damaged tools

  • Gauge, machine, and re-mark tools as needed with correct size

Assist operators when needed

  • Work with operators to reduce die waxing and die drool issues

  • Work with operators on various problems ranging from set-ups to equipment issues

Assists Process Engineering in extrusion issues

  • Assist in designing tooling

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Understands what PPE is required and where to obtain it

  • Understands Lockout/Tag out procedures

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated organizational management skills

  • Ability to operate arc weld and cutting torches

  • Ability to carry out verbal or written instructions

  • Ability to meet attendance guidelines

  • Ability to work overtime (over 40 hours in workweek, or more than 8 hours per day)

  • Ability to work rotating shift schedule, or night shifts.

  • Has ability and knowledge of how to use micrometers, calipers

  • Ability to lift dies up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in a man lift 20 feet above the floor
