Job description

We are looking for a service technician to join one of our long standing fitness clients.


Title - Service Technician

Location - Calgary, AB (and surrounding areas)


JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a reliable, highly communicative Service Technician to join our team immediately. You will start as a contractor with side-by-side training for the first week. If you prove your technical capability and alignment with our standards, you will quickly transition into independent work and steady, full-time hours as we scale our business operations.


Day to day

  • Flexible Scheduling: Shifts target a standard 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM window but there is a lot of flexibility around hours and timing to maximize time.
  • Pre-Arrival Communication: Review the daily schedule, call the customer on the day of the service to provide an accurate ETA, and immediately flag any routing delays with the customer at least an hour in advance if things run sideways.
  • Field Workload: Typically manage 3 site visits per day across Calgary and its surrounding outskirts. Lengths of appointments are highly unpredictable and volatile depending on the job complexity or equipment moves.
  • Customer Interaction: Walk into both residential homes and commercial gyms presenting a neat, clean-cut professional appearance while wearing a provided branded company shirt.


General Responsibilities

  • Execute the full cycle of technician repair: execute detailed cleaning, premium cosmetic detailing, equipment tune-ups, and thorough technical diagnosis.
  • Actively troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical faults on site.
  • Document diagnostic issues clearly and relay information accurately to the owner to facilitate parts ordering, quotes, and follow-up scheduling.
  • Return to the site to carefully install ordered manufacturer components and test equipment functionality.
  • Coordinate directly with the owner or manufacturer technical support lines when encountering unknown system errors to avoid costly, unauthorized guesswork on the job.


Additional note- Logistics & Transportation: Must possess a reliable personal vehicle to travel to various client sites. (A $15 per job trip charge bonus will be paid out to cover vehicle/travel overhead).


Required skills

  • 1-5 years of hands on mechanical and electrical Technician, repair, assembly work
  • Solid exposure (1+ years) with mechanical hands on work
  • Solid exposure (1+ years) with electrical hands on work
  • Physical Capability: Physically fit and strong enough to routinely lift, handle, and manipulate up to 100 pounds when assembling or relocating heavy workout machinery.
  • MacGyver Mindset: Exceptional, outside-the-box diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to resolve unpredictable equipment issues in the field.
  • Excellent Communication: Excellent, open verbal and written communication skills. A commitment to total transparency with customers and zero guesswork.


Nice to have skills

  • Prior field experience fixing commercial or residential fitness equipment.
  • Being an avid gym user or possessing an organic knowledge of fitness facility jargon and equipment functions (e.g., distinguishing machine components naturally).
  • Foundational business acumen, familiarity with computer/booking booking software, or an interest in process improvement and SEO to help grow a small business operations footprint.



$20/hr to $30/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
