Job Description
The New York City Employees' Retirement System (NYCERS) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Senior Project Manager reporting to the EPMO Project Portfolio Manager within the EPMO Division. This individual will be responsible for providing project management services in support of NYCERS project demands. This includes managing small to large scale projects, and following EPMO defined project management practices, processes, and policies (including Demand Management, Project, Program and Portfolio Management (PPM) Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) Project Performance Measurement and Communications and Project governance). The Senior Project manager will also be responsible for contributing to the continuous process improvement of project management practices and PPM services delivery.
The Senior Project manager will be required to work closely with NYCERS division project stakeholders including Business Sponsorship, Business Analysts, IT development teams, Quality Assurance, Vendors, and external agencies, providing EPMO Project management services.
Key Responsibilities
-Support and provide input to project governance activities, including preparation for Steering Committees, executive governance forums, and decision-making meetings.
-Provide accurate data in the PPM tool to support executive dashboards, presentations, governance materials, and briefing documents for senior leadership.
-Coordinate and manage cross-project and cross-functional dependencies to ensure alignment.
-Support project change control activities, including impact assessments, change requests, approvals, and traceability.
-Partner with business and functional leaders to forecast resource demand, monitor capacity, and resolve resource constraints.
-Ensure project deliverables, requirements, milestones, and testing activities maintain end-to-end traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
-Identify, document, and drive timely resolution of key project decisions, including recommendations and impact assessments for executive review.
-Coordinate phase gate readiness activities, ensuring required deliverables, approvals, and entry/exit criteria are achieved.
-Monitor project performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and executive reporting to support informed decision-making.
-Facilitate stakeholder engagement and communication strategies to ensure alignment across business, technology, and executive leadership.
-Drive continuous improvement of project management practices, governance processes, reporting, and delivery methodologies.
-Support organizational readiness activities by coordinating business preparedness, operational transition, and implementation readiness.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.
