The Department of Engineering Technology at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, invites applications or nominations for a full-time position at the rank of Laboratory Specialist II in the department. The department offers B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Industrial Technology.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist faculty in developing and supervising lab exercises for students; install, maintain and repair lab equipment including computer hardware and software; write specifications and requisitions for the purchase of lab supplies and equipment including computers; adjust, calibrate and operate lab equipment.

Minimum Requirements for Entry in Position:

The successful candidate must have an associate degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or a closely related field.  A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.  The candidate must be familiar with computer software that is currently used in academic programs.  Also, the candidate must commit to maintaining a professional working relationship with students, faculty, and staff, and possess excellent communication skills and personal care for the students.
