About LegalZoom
LegalZoom is on a mission to help people navigate the legal system with confidence and clarity. As a leader in online legal services for over 25 years, we combine technology, attorney-led solutions, and expertise to protect the aspirations, lives, and legacies of millions of customers. If you’re ready to contribute to a collaborative, diverse, and distributed group of creative thinkers and problem-solvers, we can’t wait to meet you.
Human-in-the-Loop
At LegalZoom, we operate with a human-in-the-loop model, where AI enhances—rather than replaces—human judgment. We believe the strongest outcomes for our customers come from thoughtfully integrating human expertise with AI capabilities to improve accuracy, safety, and decision-making.

To align with our AI-integrated operating model, our interview process will assess AI fluency, curiosity, and measurable/impactful workflow integration.

About the Role
LegalZoom is seeking AI Enablement Engineer Interns to spend the summer helping our team leverage AI to transform how we work. You'll partner with teams across Engineering, Product, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Care to identify high-leverage opportunities, prototype AI-powered workflows, and ship solutions that meaningfully change how LegalZoom serves its customers and runs its business.
In addition to AI-focused work, you'll also contribute to other technology projects across the company as needs arise—giving you broad exposure to a modern engineering org and the chance to work on real production systems alongside experienced engineers.

This is a hands-on, high-impact internship for a builder who is curious about applied AI and excited to ship.

What You'll Do
  • Design and implement AI-powered workflows using LLM APIs, agent frameworks, and automation platforms - preferably Claude Code
  • Build and evaluate prompts, copilots, and lightweight internal tools that boost team productivity
  • With the guidance of a senior engineering leader, partner with business and engineering teams to identify inefficiencies and prototype AI-driven solutions
  • Contribute to other technology projects across the engineering organization as priorities evolve
  • Develop scripts, integrations, and small services to support automation and data flow between systems
  • Define success metrics, measure impact, and iterate on solutions using data-driven insights
  • Document workflows and share what you learn so others can build on your work
  • Build solutions that are responsible, reliable, and cost-aware
What We're Looking For
Basic Qualifications
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • Proficient in Python (preferred) and comfortable with at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and core software engineering principles
  • Hands-on experience working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and prompt engineering
  • Practical familiarity with at least one AI/agent framework (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, the Anthropic or OpenAI SDKs, Claude Agent SDK, or comparable)
  • Comfortable consuming and building REST APIs and working with JSON
  • Experience with Git/GitHub, the command line, and a modern code editor
  • Familiarity with SQL and basic data manipulation (pandas or equivalent)
  • Strong problem-solving instincts, written communication, and a bias toward shipping
Bonus If
  • Exposure to evaluation frameworks for LLM outputs (e.g., evals, ragas, custom test harnesses)
  • Comfort with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and basic CI/CD
  • Experience with automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or n8n
  • A portfolio of personal AI projects, hackathon work, or open-source contributions
  • Interest in legal tech, business operations, or applied AI in regulated industries
What You'll Gain
  • Real-world experience building applied AI solutions in a production business environment
  • Cross-functional exposure to how a modern legal/tech company actually operates
  • Mentorship from experienced leaders in AI, Product, and Engineering
  • The opportunity to ship work that real LegalZoom teams and customers will use
