Title: Controls Engineer III
Location: Wilmington, NC
Duration: 12 Months with possibilities of extension

Hours: Monday-Friday 8 AM - 5 PM. Occasional off-hours on call

Scope of Position:
  • This position will work with other team members to manage, modify, and develop computer systems required to manufacture optical fiber.
  • The position will also participate in or occasionally lead projects to meet the plant's objectives, drive cost reduction efforts and participate in capacity expansion efforts.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Assist the team of engineers to provide production support and troubleshooting for 24/7 manufacturing operation. Work with production associates, technicians, and engineers to ensure reliable equipment operation via automated control systems and user interfaces.
  • Support process and product optimization/improvement efforts.
  • Provide training for engineers and/or production associates as needed for new processes, equipment, or control systems.
  • Participate in capital projects.
  • Some after-hours, on-call support may be needed.
  • 2 to 5 Years of experience is Fine
  • Looking for Real time controls engineer for a Manufacturing Environment
  • Looking for Real control environment and also like a Programming background
  • Less controls programming experience and low level embedded software engineer or software developer
  • General Programming experience/Traditional software development programming/writing code
  • Primary looking for C Programming
  • Secondary nice to have TwinCAT but not certainly need
  • Previous Manufacturing environment experience would be plus
Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science; or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in a technical role or relevant experience
Required Skills:
  • Knowledge in computer and PLC programming skills such as: VB, .net, C, Realtime systems or similar
Must Have Skills:
  • Real time operating system
  • C Programming experience ideally 2 to 3 years of experience
Education: Bachelors Degree
 
Desired Skills:
  • Ability/experience integrating computers into manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and lower cost
  • MS Windows, iFIX, EthernetIP I/O, Microsoft Office. Real-time control systems, experience with motion systems (desired but not required), SCADA, Twincat
  • Experience in production support in a manufacturing environment
  • Problem-solving and debugging skills; ability to understand real needs behind operations and engineering requests
  • Ability/experience in troubleshooting simple low-voltage electrical circuitry
