In this role, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, designers, and project managers to develop high-quality construction documents for commercial, residential, and site development projects. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, strengthen your Civil 3D skills, and contribute to projects that shape the communities where we live and work.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented CAD professional who enjoys solving problems, collaborating with a team, and seeing their work move from a drawing on a screen to a completed project in the field.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare and revise civil construction plans, profiles, details, exhibits, and other technical drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Develop construction documents from engineer markups, sketches, notes, survey information, and design concepts with increasing independence.
  • Support the design and documentation of commercial, residential, and site development projects.
  • Interpret project information and determine effective drafting approaches with limited supervision.
  • Apply Pape-Dawson CAD standards and best practices to maintain consistency, accuracy, and quality across project deliverables.
  • Perform self-checks and incorporate QA/QC procedures and applicable agency requirements before documents are submitted.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and other team members to meet project goals and schedules.
  • Assist with preparation of technical exhibits, presentation materials, and other project deliverables.
  • Maintain organized project files and drawing sets to support efficient team collaboration.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge and CAD skills while taking on increasingly complex assignments.

What You Bring
  • 2+ years of experience preparing civil, site development, transportation, utility, structural, or related construction documents using CAD software.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with additional design platforms such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, or OpenBridge is a plus.
  • An associate degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting/Design, Applied Science, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to understand technical information and translate design concepts into clear, constructible drawings.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative project team.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn, take on new challenges, and grow your technical capabilities.
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle and travel occasionally, if required by the assignment.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime as needed.

Why Join Pape-Dawson?
At Pape-Dawson, you'll be more than a CAD technician-you'll be a valued member of a multidisciplinary team working on projects that have a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
Our Private Land Development team offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, collaborate directly with experienced professionals, and continue building your technical expertise and career.
