CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Measurements Engineer II to join an established engineering team supporting advanced measurement and manufacturing technology solutions.

Location: Painted Post, NY

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Painted Post, NY

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Physics, Optics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

Description

The Measurements Engineer II will develop, integrate, and support optical and computer vision-based measurement and instrumentation systems used in manufacturing environments. This role will work closely with cross-functional engineering, quality, IT, purchasing, and operations teams to move measurement technologies from development into production.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with machine vision, metrology, optics, image processing, and system integration, along with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement optical and computer vision-based measurement and instrumentation systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define measurement requirements and develop manufacturing solutions.
  • Transition measurement technologies from early-stage development to production-ready systems.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and support system integration activities.
  • Define scopes of work, obtain quotes, track supplier deliverables, and support purchasing activities.
  • Design experiments and analyze data to improve measurement systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain production documentation, including machine specifications, operating procedures, and drawing packages.
  • Train engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel on measurement system operation and maintenance.
  • Provide onsite and remote troubleshooting using system data and performance analysis.
  • Support electrical, optical, and mechanical installation, system checkout, integration, and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with machine vision metrology equipment.
  • 3+ years of experience developing computer vision systems, including optics, lighting, cameras, image acquisition, image analysis, laser, and/or 3D measurement technologies.
  • Hands-on experience or training with vision systems.
  • Fundamental understanding of physical optics.
  • Knowledge of image processing techniques such as blob analysis, edge detection, morphology, feature extraction, classification, and metrology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio; C# and Python strongly preferred.
  • Experience with machine learning and AI technologies, including CNNs.
  • Experience with systems engineering and integration.
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, optical, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel for data retrieval, plotting, and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with image processing tools such as HALCON, Matrox Inspector, NI Vision, Cognex, Keyence, or MATLAB Image Processing Toolbox.
  • Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or other machine learning frameworks.
  • PLC and control systems experience.
  • Experience with design of experiments, statistical analysis, and process improvement.
  • Manufacturing experience in metrology, inspection, or product quality.
  • Motion control experience, including integrating motion with imaging platforms.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing systems.
