Overview:
The CAD Designer provides advanced design and drafting support for engineering projects. This role works with minimal oversight to prepare detailed construction documents, exhibits, and technical graphics in compliance with company standards and applicable agency requirements. The Designer supports engineers and project managers in project delivery through advanced CAD production, coordination, and technical documentation, while ensuring accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop site layouts and construction plans for grading, drainage, and utility systems.
  • Produce detailed site design exhibits and supporting documentation for development projects.
  • Coordinate design elements to support permitting and construction documentation.
  • Prepare and revise engineering design documents and technical drawings using applicable CAD platforms (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D) in support of project deliverables.
  • Translate engineer direction, markups, and sketches into accurate and complete design documentation with minimal supervision.
  • Apply company CAD standards to ensure consistency in layers, symbols, line styles, and sheet organization across all deliverables.
  • Perform quality control checks and incorporate applicable agency standards, guidelines, and checklists to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve design issues and maintain project schedules.
  • Support preparation of technical documentation, reports, and exhibits as needed.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation to support collaboration and efficient project execution.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting/Design, Applied Science, or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience preparing land development design documents.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D)
  • Strong knowledge of applicable design standards, processes, and documentation requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proven record of producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing assignments and project priorities.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime as needed.
