Senior Plumbing Engineer Roles and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing Design Engineer to join our Houston-Texas team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in various Plumbing system designs, project management, and industry codes and standards. This role involves leading design projects, mentoring junior engineers and designers, and collaborating with cross-discipline teams to deliver innovative Plumbing solutions for various sectors including commercial, retail/hospitality, industrial, healthcare, aviation, transportation (rail/transit/ports), education, and civic/community.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, analysis, and implementation of Plumbing systems for various projects.
  • Develop detailed Plumbing drawings, specifications, and schematics using CAD and BIM software.
  • Ability to size equipment, perform calculations, and design plumbing systems including domestic hot and cold water, sanitary waste and vent, grease waste, storm drain, booster pumps, sewage ejectors, sump pumps, natural gas, compressed air, acid waste, medical gas, and basic fire protection.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, and sustainability requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, owners, and other engineering disciplines to define project scope and integrate Plumbing systems seamlessly.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Review and approve project documentation including calculations, equipment schedules, construction drawings, RFI's, and submittals.
  • Conduct site inspections and troubleshoot Plumbing system issues during and after construction.
  • Stay current with emerging Plumbing technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing project proposals, report writing, cost estimates, and client presentations.

Job Qualifications and skills
Minimum qualifications:
  • 7-10+ years of experience in Plumbing system design and engineering for facilities/buildings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, juggle multiple projects concurrently, and motivate multi-discipline project teams in meeting client needs in a timely manner and within budget objectives.
  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, creativity, and enthusiasm.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD design software.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or CPD certification is a plus.
  • EIT or Professional Engineer License is a plus.
