Gastronomous is looking for a Co-op Electrical Engineer who will directly work alongside our core engineering team. Your input will be crucial in re-designing and improving current product models.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, implement and test software for embedded devices and systems ensuring end-to end software development from requirements to production deployment
  • Develop and maintain electrical designs (PCB/PCBAs, cables/wire harness, panel wiring diagrams)
  • Select components for electronics panel
  • Update BoM and supporting calculations of project decisions
  • Perform calculations for component and machine specifications
  • Review and assist in electrical certification process
  • Assist in assembling wire harnesses
  • Assist in assembling industrial electrical panels
  • Basic PCB manufacturing
  • Communicate with component vendors and contractors
  • Manage inventory of electrical components
  • Assist in building PoC prototypes

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

  • Experience working with industrial electronic components and panel building
  • Experience designing circuit diagrams and performing electrical calculations
  • Ability to react and adapt quickly to assist in getting prototypes functional
  • Experience soldering, crimping, and use of standard electrical testing tools
  • Understanding of microcontrollers
  • Strong debugging and troubleshoot skills

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in robotics and machine automation.
  • PCB design and build experience
  • Familiarity with communication busses (USB, Ethernet, TCP, Modbus, CAN, etc.)

Soft Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Organized and efficient, able to self-manage projects and present deliverables on time or communicate delays.
  • Detail oriented with regards to machine development
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
