Real-Time Software Engineers (Associate or Experienced)

The Boeing Precision Engagement Systems organization in St. Charles, MO (St. Louis metro area)is seeking several Real-Time Software Engineers (Associate or Experienced) to develop, integrate, test, and deliver complex software solutions. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. The Precision Engagement Systems organization is a strong and growing business that produces a variety of precision-guided weapons, which are employed around the world to support the defense of the United States and more than 30 U.S. allied countries, making a significant global impact.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Experienced Level Software Engineers.

At the Boeing campus in St. Charles, MO, we support Direct Attack weapons and Cruise Missiles that are deployed on a range of military aircraft and select ground platforms. This highly skilled software team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Operational Flight Programming (OFP) software and other real-time embedded software products that fulfill the mission processing functionality of the weapon systems. We use the Agile methodology and the Secure Digital Transformation Environment tool stack (Jira, BitBucket, Confluence, Artifactory) to develop the OFP software, written in Ada.

In this role, the software engineer will join a multi-discipline team to design and build software solutions. Engineers will work across all phases of the software development lifecycle and take ownership of features from design through deployment. Our work includes developing real-time embedded applications, creating models and simulations, implementing DevOps practices and automated development environments, building support tools, and managing software configuration and Agile release processes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline engineering team to create and implement Operational Flight Program (OFP) software solutions

  • Contribute in all phases of the software development lifecycle in an Agile development environment

  • Develop solutions using Ada and C/C++

  • Test your software and assist system level testing to verify correct software functionality

  • Analyze problem reports and troubleshooting software defects

  • Develop leadership skills and experience

  • Opportunity to work directly with United States Air Force and Navy customers

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. secret security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3+ years of experience programming in C, C++ or Ada

  • 3+ years of experience in real-time embedded software development

  • 3+ years of experience in developing software using Object Oriented principles

  • 3+ years of experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Level 2 / Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 2+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of directly related work experience OR 10+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Level 3 / Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Active U.S. secret clearance

  • Experience with Ada, Python, or C#

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment

  • Experience with Git or a similar version control system

  • Experience developing and tracing software requirements

Summary Pay Range for Associate level: $99,450 - $134,550

Summary Pay Range for Experienced: $126,650 - $171,350
