Job description

Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a CNC Programmer role in Sherwood, OR. Our client is a well-established manufacturing leader known for producing high-precision components and delivering exceptional quality to customers across a variety of industries. Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis mills, lathes, and other CNC equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and specifications to develop efficient machining strategies.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and machining sequences to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to support new product introductions and ongoing process improvements.
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues, implementing corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce scrap.
  • Perform program prove-outs and support machine setup activities as needed.
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software to generate toolpaths and maintain programming documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, inspection requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation while adhering to company procedures and best practices.
 

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of CNC programming experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and G-code programming.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and material properties.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
  • Experience programming multi-axis CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Machining, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience programming aerospace, medical, defense, or other precision-machined components.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, Esprit, or similar CAM software.
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience supporting first article inspections and quality documentation requirements.
