Overview

The Geological Sciences and Criminal Justice Department invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position that will be a joint appointment between the two departments. The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to teach in the areas of forensic geoscience and forensic science, including forensic geology, forensic sedimentology, criminalistics, climate and crime, forensic geochemistry, forensic instrumentation, and advanced investigations.

Duties and Responsibilities
Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Required Qualifications

  1. PhD in Forensic Geoscience or closely related field, or ABD with doctorate conferred by August 2027
  2. At least two years of experience teaching full time at a Massachusetts State University or comparable institution
  3. Experience and demonstrated ability to teach in areas of forensic geoscience and forensic science
  4. Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college/university level

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in and enthusiasm for teaching in multiracial, multiethnic environment with students from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles
  2. Experience teaching face-to-face and online courses
  3. Experience in distance learning and instructional technologies
  4. Experience mentoring undergraduate research projects
  5. Experience serving as role a model and mentor for a diverse student body
  6. Evidence of scholarly research in Forensics, Forensic Geoscience, Environmental Justice or closely related field
  7. Experience teaching field geology courses in Montana
  8. As a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution (HSI/MSI), Salem State University seeks to enrich the faculty/librarian ranks by actively encouraging candidates body of scholarly work addresses issues regarding the welfare and representation of historically under-served communities in our region. Working Location

This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities.
