Job description

The Director of OMBA Learning Experience is a key member of the leadership team for the Online MBA Program at the Questrom School of Business. This role manages the Learning Facilitator (LF) team and is responsible for developing and executing a student-centered strategy for support in all academic courses. The Director also plays a key role in managing the current delivery of all OMBA modules in partnership with the OMBA Program Manager and Director of Program Innovation, including ensuring adoption and implementation of new policies and technologies by the Learning Facilitator teams. The person in this role will provide guidance to the Lead Learning Facilitators as they oversee their respective teams and recommend solutions to student concerns and manage student case escalation and grievances in partnership with the Senior Director of Student Success. As part of OMBAs continuous improvement effort, the Director prepares regular reports and analyzes key data indicators to track LF performance and needs to inform strategic decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise a team of Lead Learning Facilitators (LF) as they manage their respective teams. This includes supervision and performance management, along with all hiring and onboarding.
  • Lead the Mod revision process and platform updates, in coordination with the Faculty Director, Director of Program Innovation, and BU Virtual.
  • Develop and implement training materials and protocols for current and new LFs. 
  • Manage Mod pre-launch processes each semester in collaboration with the OMBA Program Manager, including coordinating the team formation process and syllabus preparation.
  • Manage grade escalations and grievances in collaboration with OMBA faculty, the Learning Facilitator team and OMBA leadership.
  • Lead bi-weekly delivery status meetings with LF teams, Course Operations, and EdTech.
  • Project manage Mod updates that encompass multiple Mods.
  • Manage adoption of new rollouts/implementations across the LF team. 
  • Analyze institutional data to continually assess the Online MBA program status, student learning, and inform key decisions for continuous improvement of the Online MBA.
  • Prepare regular reports on LF advising efforts for continuous improvement of student support services.

Required Skills
  • Master's degree required
  • 8-10 years of experience, specifically previous teaching/advising experience with online students preferred
  • Minimum of 5 yrs management experience.
  •  Experience managing remote teams strongly preferred
  • Previous teaching experience, specifically with online programs
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Ability to provide recommendations for improvement based on the analysis of internal and external data 
  • Customer service orientation with desire to help others succeed in reaching their goals
  • Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with students
  • Experience with observing, receiving and otherwise obtaining information from relevant sources, and keeping records in CRM (Salesforce preferred)
  • Strategic mindset and ability to operationalize strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to balance immediate tactical needs with longer-term organizational vision
  • Strong computer skills and ability to quickly adapt to new technology
  • Motivation for delivering empathetic, compassionate, consistent, accurate, developmental, student-focused, appreciative, and honest advising
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrated commitment to and relevant ability in competently working with diverse student populations
  • This position is a hybrid role the Director will be expected to comply with the university's flexible work guidelines.
