Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Department of Marketing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2027.
Candidates with experience teaching marketing research, marketing analytics, digital marketing analytics, consumer behavior, or sales are encouraged to apply. The candidate is also expected to conduct scholarly research activities that result in high-quality, peer-reviewed publications and to provide service to advance the mission of the department, school, university, and academy.
A research-active faculty member should expect to maintain a 3/2 teaching load. The ideal candidate will produce impactful research and advance the field of marketing through scholarly contributions, while also impacting the lives of future marketing professionals through teaching and service efforts.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Marketing or a related field from an AACSB-accredited school. NOTE: ABD's with an expected conferral date before August 1, 2027 are encouraged to apply.
    • ABD candidates with a Ph.D. conferred by August 1, 2027, can anticipate an initial appointment as Assistant Professor.
    • Selected candidates with a Ph.D. nearly completed (ABD, not conferred by August 1, 2027) can anticipate an initial appointment as Lecturer at a reduced salary for a one-year fixed-term appointment. Degree verification must be provided before the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, and the candidate will be appointed to the rank of assistant professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1 of the following academic year.

Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in both face-to-face and online instruction. A proven track record in teaching marketing courses such as:

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Marketing serves over 600 undergraduate majors and offers degrees in two areas: (1) Marketing Strategy and (2) Professional Selling. The Cameron School of Business' Marketing Department is home to the Center for Sales Excellence & Customer Delight. The Department also offers a course in the Cameron School core curriculum, a Marketing specialization in the MBA program, and several elective courses across various business masters' programs.
