Job description

Summary:

Seeking ambitious, energetic, motivated, organized and creative individual for an Equipment role in the Long Beach area (officially called the Port of Los Angeles) . The primary focus of the role is on the installation, maintenance, monitoring, repair and development of supplemental automation technology on a variety of terminal vehicles including trucks, tractors, cranes and heavy lifts. Training will be provided on the company's specific environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strong ability to learn how to use, program, install, and troubleshoot new proprietary equipment ranging from a variety of technologies including RFID, OCR, Infrared, GPS, and digital displays.
  • Field work and troubleshooting in the field on equipment (trucks, cranes, gates). Perform root cause analysis for field issues, provides corrective actions.
  • Office work utilizing IT systems and proprietary application resources for projects.
  • Coordinate and communicate between different vendors and terminal departments to properly and efficiently keep automation systems running smoothly. Will work with our departmental teams, clients and mechanics.
  • Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods.
  • Work in a collaborative environment to analyze, build and test components, devices, structures and assemblies for mechanical and electronic hardware including telemetry and tooling for GPS tracking.
  • Develop improving product efficiencies by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Utilize existing auditing tools to monitor product functionality and coordinate repairs and improvements based off auditing results.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services with appropriate vendors; following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with terminal regulations.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of computer related experience.
  • Terminal operations and terminal technology experience preferred

  • Must have strong analytical skills, including the ability to extract, compile and analyze data

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Problem solving skills evidenced by demonstrated results in past positions

  • Ability to learn quickly, efficiently and have a curiosity towards how things work

  • Ability to work safely and independently when necessary
