Forklift Operator (2nd Shift)

The Forklift Operator will move any material assigned (raw or finished goods) in a warehouse or production environment, using a forklift, pallet jack, or by physical force as appropriate to the situation.

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables

  • Performing day-to-day tasks such as load trucks unload trucks and supply production areas with product.
  • Remove finished goods to a warehouse storage area.
  • Applying MTS tags and using handheld scanner machines for bar codes to track components and chemicals in the warehouse.
  • Document, count, and verify customer piece counts for shipping and receiving.
  • Manage paperwork to properly identify incoming materials and outgoing products in accordance with established product control systems and shipping orders.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the computer’s inventory system and the physical location and organization of inventory.
  • Loads/unloads trailers and verifies quantities against packing list.
  • Provides Lot numbers/batch numbers for Shipping Clerk.
  • Performs cycle counts and product disposal per customer request.
  • Maintains a continuous work pace that supports production and warehouse goals.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles, such as cleaning, recharging batteries, or replacing liquefied-gas tanks.
  • Maintains cGMP’s and housekeeping programs.
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment in the workplace.
  • Follows rules and regulations to ensure food safety, quality, and legality.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently, protecting self and others from accidents and injury.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with their department.
  • Expected to be exposed to/trained in handling hazardous materials with annual refresher training.

  • Maintains accurate and complete documentation of cycle counts, routine maintenance, and other required information.
  • Always maintains cGMP standards.
  • Operates industrial truck in safe and appropriate manner, without exception.

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities 

Education:

  • High school education or equivalent expected.
  • Certification: Forklift – status

Experience:

  • One year of previous experience operating a forklift in a professional environment
  • The ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
  • Demonstrated capacity to receive work direction and perform to the expectation assigned.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and multi-task in a multi-discipline.
  • Understands how to participate as a member of a team; supports the goals of the team.
  • Willing and able to work alongside a variety of people, with emphasis on respect and safety.
  • Qualified candidates must be quality conscious, safety conscious, energetic and innovative to be successful in this role.
  • Recent experience as a dependable employee, particularly relating to low absenteeism and tardiness.

Technology/Software:

  • Capable to utilize a computer or RF Scanners
  • WMS experience preferred.

Communication:       

  • Expected to be able to receive information and perform the tasks assigned; likewise able to express themselves to avoid problems, errors, issues, or misunderstanding situations.

Physical Capabilities

Strength:

  • Have ability to regularly lift, carry, turn and raise; and/or lift turn and bend down to place a unit weighing up to 50 lb. on to a pallet or stack of units.  The frequency could be every 3 to 5 seconds.
  • Have ability to retrieve merchandise from shelves up to six feet high.
  • The ability to be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, non-toxic fumes and airborne particles, blowing dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, proximity to extreme heat, and moving mechanical parts.

Movement:

  • Have full mobility in, and use of, arms, hands and legs.
  • Can sit for extended periods of time.

Hearing:

  • Able to function in a semi loud environment, with frequent loud bursts of noise (such as backup siren)

Vision (judge distance, read signs, extended computer work, identify details):

  • Able to see to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
