Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of all CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) programs across a diverse range of machine shop equipment. This includes equipment such as Trumpf sheet and tube lasers, BLM tube lasers, brake and bending machines (including Accurpress and Trumpf), and Amada laser systems. Tasks involve optimizing machine performance, ensuring program accuracy and efficiency, and supporting production teams with troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Reviews all new and revised engineering drawings and designs and creates / modifies CNC programs for all CNC equipment to ensure material utilization.
  • Create, update, and distribute all set up sheets (dispatches) along with matching batch (nests) information for the equipment in a timely manner.
  • Work alongside bargaining unit employees to help develop improved programs based on shop floor needs.
  • Monitors part designs, tooling requirements, batch sizes and material usage to ensure CNC programs maximize machine efficiency.
  • Work with Engineering, Purchasing, and Planning departments to initiate process improvements related to CNC programs.
  • Create prototype and special project parts programs for Non – standard work orders
  • Create parts programs using TruTops, Radan, VGPNext, Artube, PartViewer, NX & other equipment specific software.
  • Control parts program libraries within the Windows operating environments.
  • Develop new and improved methods to maximize program and machine efficiency.
  • Produces and modifies programs in accordance with the ISO quality systems program.
  • Assist in determining future CNC shop floor equipment and office programming software.
  • Collect and send files, including DXF, STP, and IGES to supplier/vendor site for periodical subcontracting requirements.

Requirements

  • Completion of the Manufacturing CAD and/or CNC Machining and Advanced Technology program, equivalent education and experience to be considered
  • 3-5 years experience machining and program experience on sheet lasers, tube lasers, press brake, and tube bending
  • Common knowledge of G and M Codes for specific machines
  • Experience with BLM Software, Trumpf Software, Radan, NX and AutoCad
  • Experience with Windows 7-11, Microsoft Office Products. BLM software (ArTube, PartViewer,VGPNext & etc), Trumpf software (TruTops and like software), Radan, RadBend, NX and AutoCAD.
  • Travel upto 5% is required.
