Job Purpose

The Electrical Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring and testing various components. This includes: manufacture/assembly of the electrical panel, pump/blower(s), wiring of tables, testing of options, sub-components, final assembly and quality assurance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine established assembly methods.
  • Cuts wire to specified lengths, using wire cutters.
  • Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping device.
  • Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, plugs, condensers, switches, and solenoids
  • Installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units using soldering gun and hand tools.
  • Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, and other electrical testing instruments.
  • May attach headers, terminals, and mounting studs to etched circuit boards.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills and Abilities

  • Related post-secondary education (diploma) required e. electrical technician / technologist
  • Able to read, interpret and apply electrical and pneumatic schematics and diagrams
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of and experience working with tools, concepts and electrical methodologies
  • Electrical aptitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Able to bend and work on the ground as needed
  • Able to lift and move materials up to 25lbs
