Computer Night information

What is a computer night?

Computer Night jobs typically refer to positions that involve working with computers during overnight or late-night shifts. These roles may include monitoring computer systems, performing maintenance tasks, running batch processes, or providing IT support outside regular business hours. The primary goal is to ensure that computer operations run smoothly and securely during times when regular staff are not present. Such positions are common in industries that require 24/7 IT support, like data centers, healthcare, or financial services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a computer night?

To thrive as a Computer Network Engineer, you need a solid understanding of networking protocols, troubleshooting, and network design, typically supported by a degree in computer science or information technology. Familiarity with tools such as Cisco routers and switches, network monitoring software, and certifications like CCNA or CompTIA Network+ is essential. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication help professionals excel in diagnosing issues and collaborating with teams. These skills ensure secure, reliable, and efficient network operations critical to organizational success.

What are the common challenges faced by computer night operators and how can they be addressed?

Computer Night Operators often manage critical IT systems during off-hours, where immediate support may be limited. One common challenge is troubleshooting urgent technical issues independently, as fewer colleagues are available for assistance. To address this, it's important to develop strong problem-solving skills, maintain detailed documentation, and familiarize oneself with escalation procedures. Regular communication with day-shift teams also ensures continuity and helps resolve recurring issues efficiently.

Job description

At The Queen's Cue and Crescent Hotels & Resorts, we are a team of hospitality professionals that are deeply connected to & proud of the exceptional experiences we provide for our guests. More than that, we know our Associates are the shining stars of what we do!

We understand what it takes to be a part of something great. We will encourage you to bring your true self to work every day, we will celebrate you and we will cheer you on as you shine bright in your career journey. Job Summary

The Queen’s Cue, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Night Watch - Night Auditor to join our Front Office team in Stratford.

At The Queen’s Cue, the Night Watch is the steady presence that carries the hotel from one day into the next. Inspired by the traditional role of those entrusted to keep watch through the night, our Night Watch ensures the hotel remains welcoming, secure, organized, and ready for whatever the overnight hours may bring.

Part guest host, part problem solver, and part keeper of the day’s final details, you will support guests throughout the night while completing the daily audit, reconciling activity, and preparing the hotel for a seamless start to the morning.

Does this sound like you?

You are calm, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership when much of the hotel has gone quiet. You work well independently, trust your judgment, and know when to act, when to investigate, and when something needs to be escalated.

Your night may include welcoming late-arriving guests, completing check-ins and check-outs, managing reservations and payments, responding to guest requests, and handling the unexpected with professionalism and discretion. Alongside the guest experience, you will complete the nightly audit process, reconcile accounts and transactions, prepare reports, investigate discrepancies, and ensure the day is accurately closed after the next one begins.

You are confident with numbers and technology, organized in your approach, and naturally attentive to detail. Above all, you take pride in being the person who keeps watch over the hotel after hours - ensuring guests feel cared for, the operation remains secure, and the morning team arrives to a hotel that is balanced, prepared, and ready for a new day.

What We Offer

  • Discounts with Crescent managed properties in North America, and Marriott Worldwide for you & your family members.
  • A workplace that you can be proud of, where you are valued, trusted and supported by the team.

Qualifications

  • Previous hotel Front Office, Night Audit, accounting, or customer service experience is an asset.

  • Excellent communication and guest service skills with a calm and professional approach.
  • A self-motivated approach with the confidence to work independently and take ownership of the overnight shift.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn hotel property management, payment, reporting, and reservation systems.
  • Ability to accurately reconcile financial transactions, guest accounts, cash, and daily revenue activity.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidential guest and financial information.
  • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to guest concerns, operational issues, or unexpected situations overnight.
  • Flexibility and availability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.

We welcome applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process. This posting represents a current vacancy and Crescent Hotels & Resorts does not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, and/or select applicants.

At Crescent Hotels & Resorts we strive to create a great place to work where associates at all levels of our organization are respected for their differences, just like the guests and owners we serve. That’s why we are dedicated to creating an environment that facilitates open and honest conversations about race, equity, diversity, and inclusion. By examining our own beliefs and behaviors, we can create change through training, recruiting, and promoting diverse talent to strengthen our culture.
