Job description

The Refugee Services Department supports government-approved refugees in achieving stability and self-sufficiency through cultural orientation, case management, employment support, family reunification, referrals, and community integration services.

The Education Liaison supports the Refugee School Impact (RSI) team in delivering academic, social, and family focused services to refugee and immigrant students and their parents. Interns assist with intervention and after school programs, provide academic support in a trauma informed environment, and help create a safe, welcoming space for elementary aged students adjusting to U.S. schools.
In addition to student facing activities, the Education Liaison collaborates with the RSI team to facilitate parent classes and informational sessions on topics such as attendance, absences, self care, hygiene, and nutrition. The role also includes completing service documentation in the agency database and supporting curriculum and activity development.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Support the School Impact team in creating program activities, lesson plans, and curriculum.
  • Assist RSI staff during intervention and afterschool programs by providing academic and socialemotional support to students.
  • Participate in parent engagement activities, including classes and informational sessions.
  • Assist with family outreach and communication as needed.
  • Complete service documentation in the agency's database accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Help track student progress and support goalsetting under staff supervision.
  • Collaborate with school personnel and program staff to ensure coordinated support for students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate or undergraduate student in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work effectively with children from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Professionalism, patience, and confidentiality.
  • Basic administrative and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Customer service and community outreach experience (preferred).
  • Data entry accuracy.
  • Bilingual skills preferred (Arabic, Spanish, Swahili, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, or other refugee languages).
