With a Remote Support Center (RSC) and a Network Operations Center (NOC) located remotely in Portland, our local operations in the San Francisco Bay Area involve primarily on-site technical & field support of our client locations across the Bay Area primarily in San Francisco & Oakland

This is a great internship opportunity to get professional hands-on experience with desktop support in an corporate information systems organization. The intern will work under the direction of our experienced Technicians to help with Service Desk requests, computer installs, application deployment and projects. Position Overview: We are seeking interns to work with our Technicians in several Bay Area locations primarily in San Francisco and in Oakland.

This internship is for the Summer & Fall of 2015. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, striving for excellence and looking for real world experiences. This position is approximately 20 hours per week, depending upon the selected candidate's availability.

The ideal candidate will work both on-site and remotely as needed. The first two weeks of the internship involve both online and on-site training on our systems & applications. The intern will work with confidential and proprietary information that requires a signed IT Employee Invention and Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.

Responsibilities & Duties: Assist Technicians with projects as necessary Installing, configuring and maintaining desktop & laptop PCs, peripherals, and other technology such as VoIP phones Complete full asset inventory and assist the Procurement Specialist with updating our asset management database Installing and configuring application & operating system software Troubleshooting software, hardware, and other issues reported by employees Removing old equipment and performing data migration to new machines Diagnose hardware issues & deficiencies, and replace defective components. Perform periodic performance assessments Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, computer hardware, and appropriate software Develop training materials & procedures, and perform periodic training of employees in computer system use Write and maintain technical documentation on departmental procedures, supported software, and approved processes Maintain logs related to reported issues as well as maintenance and repair records. Contribute to and maintain system standards Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs as well as spare equipment Remain current on new developments in technology, including: security notifications and product knowledge of used hardware & software Make recommendations to improve processes, reliability of hardware, and increase efficiency related to the desktop environment; supported by appropriate research and logical reasoning Perform ad-hoc requests as needed Adhere to prescribed deadlines Other duties as assigned Requirements: Must be a recent graduate, a junior or senior in an Information Systems Management or Computer Science program Preference will be given to students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale Availability to work at least 20 hours per standard work week required Eager to learn Effective organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Must have strong written and oral communications skills Must demonstrate a strong work ethic with the ability to work in a team environment Must have the ability to create and maintain positive and healthy relationships in team environment and in working with others Be a self-starter and fulfill project tasks within deadline Excellent verbal and written communication: able to clearly convey ideas across a wide range of internal and external audiences in a clear, concise, and professional manner Experienced with Microsoft Windows & Microsoft Office Suite Professional certifications, such as the CompTIA IT Technician or Microsoft Certified IT Professional designation are a plus
