Job description

Systel's business is growing, we are looking for an IT Operations intern to support the IT Department.
The IT Operations Intern will support the IT Operations team in maintaining and improving the organization's day-to-day technology environment. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in IT support, endpoint management, system administration, user support, asset management, and operational processes while strengthening technical troubleshooting and communication skills.
This internship is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Information Systems (CIS), Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field who are interested in IT infrastructure, technical support, systems administration, and operational technology services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the IT Operations team with daily technical support activities and operational tasks
  • Provide first-level support for hardware, software, printer, and connectivity issues
  • Assist with workstation deployments, device imaging, system setup, and equipment replacements
  • Support user account administration tasks, including onboarding, offboarding, password resets, and access requests
  • Maintain and update IT asset inventory records and equipment tracking
  • Help monitor and maintain system health, patching, and endpoint compliance
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues related to Microsoft 365, Windows systems, and common business applications
  • Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and operational processes
  • Support conference room technology and office IT equipment as needed
  • Participate in IT operational improvement initiatives and process standardization efforts
  • Assist with maintaining organized IT storage areas, spare equipment, and deployment readiness
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff when appropriate
Qualifications
Required:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration tools
  • Experience with Windows operating systems and basic system administration
  • Exposure to Active Directory or user account management concepts
  • Experience working with ticketing systems or help desk environments
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals and cybersecurity best practices
