We're looking for a Clerical Support Associate to work in our 11 East & West Surgical Inpatient Unit for the Surgical Program. 

Employment Status: Permanent Part TimeHours of Work: Must be available for days and evenings - subject to change as per Article 3 - Management Rights.Location: Humber River Health, Hennick Humber HospitalLabour Group: Teamsters ClericalReporting Relationship: Manager, 11 East & West SurgeryHourly Rate: $29.966 - $31.016

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for clerical support including patient registration and discharge, maintenance of patient records, order entry, statistics, and assisting with patient billing.
  • Responsible for customer service including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, telephone inquiries, greeting patients and visitors in a courteous manner.
  • Communicates with bed allocation and other departments to arrange patient placement.
  • Communicates with other departments and service areas as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Completed secretarial and medical terminology courses preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Minimum of one-year full time recent clerical experience required, preferably in an out-patient health care setting.
  • Computer skills required, keyboarding 40 wpm required.
  • Meditech computer experience is preferred.
  • Community-wide scheduling experience is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required, including an ability to prioritize a varied and busy workload and work with tight deadlines, frequent interruptions, and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
