Join our professional team of Registered Practical Nurses as we work together to deliver compassionate care that is responsive to the healthcare needs of our community.  

 Our cardiology program provides specialty services for patients with acute and chronic conditions of the cardiovascular system. The Inpatient Cardiology Units are located on the 7th floor of our new site. As part of an interdisciplinary team, Registered Practical Nurses provide quality care to those patients with various heart conditions and other general medicine medical diagnosis that may or may not require telemetry monitoring.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Practical Nurse to join our Cardiology team on our Inpatient Cardiology Unit

Reporting Relationship:  Clinical Manager of the Inpatient Cardiology Unit

Hourly Rate Range: $38.893 - $39.458

Position Responsibilities:

  • RPN responsibilities set out by the department
  • Care of hemodynamically stable cardio-respiratory, and medical patients including clients with Acute Coronary Syndrome within the RPN scope of practice.
  • Telemetry monitoring, care planning and coordination of care with various team members within the interdisciplinary team.
  • Utilization of computerized systems for documentation of patient care.
  • Participation in Unit and/or Corporate project teams or Hospital Committees, as required.
  • Preceptorship of nursing students and new orientees as required.

 Qualifications

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Completion of Coronary Care 1 Course or in progress and a commitment to complete Coronary Care 2 within 1 year of starting on the unit.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
  • Experience in caring for cardiac patients required.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the hospital's code of conduct.
  • .Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, blood transfusions, wound care (VAC dressings), medication administration, etc
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required. 
  • Minimum 1 year acute medical/surgical experience, preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • New graduates will be considered.
