Job description

Overview

A CAD Technician is tasked with utilizing CAD software to prepare control drawings, as well as overseeing quality assurance and validation of control panels. The technician collaborates with electrical designers and engineers to deliver comprehensive and accurate drawing sets for assigned projects.

Responsibilities

General Characteristics

  • Completes drawings thoroughly and accurately.
  • Self-checking of all work for accuracy Continuous improvement in acquiring skills for using software tools developed at RoviSys
  • Ability to recognize and offer suggestions for continued improvement within the CAD Team for Efficiency and Accuracy

Technical Skills

  • Completes drawing drafting tasks including Panel Layout, Power Distribution, I/O Connections, Field Termination Details, Location and Cable Pull Details, HVAC Flow Diagrams, Controls P&IDs, Network Architectures, and Bill of Materials.
  • Prepare all drawings to conform to customers' and RoviSys' standards and specifications.
  • Provide technical support during panel fabrication
  • Conduct inspections of finished control enclosures at panel fabrication shops.
  • Conduct a field inspection of the control panel and instrumentation to verify accuracy prior to finalizing the drawing revision.

Design Collaboration

  • Engaging with both the designer and engineer throughout their design phase through structured meeting formats.
  • Support engineers and field technicians during commissioning and testing phases of the project
Qualifications
  • Associates degree, Equivalent Trade school Degree, or CAD software Experience.
  • Knowledgeable in electrical CAD software programs (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, etc.)
  • General knowledge of electrical circuitry, NFPA, NEC, and/or IEC codes
