Job description

Audubon is currently seeking a CAD Support Technician II to join our team in our Houston, TX Office. The CAD Support Technician II, will be responsible for designing, developing, and administering enterprise-wide CAD/CAE standards, systems, and workflows. This role serves as the subject matter expert for CAD technology, providing strategic guidance, systems analysis, configuration, and process development across multiple offices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with other Admin groups in order to integrate and customize CAD software with AVEVA and Material Management tools (AIM).
  • Provide technical support to CAD users, resolving complex software and hardware issues, and offering innovative solutions. Resolve tickets via Audubon's CAD Helpdesk (ticketing system) in alignment with our SLA.
  • Maintain CAD software installations, configurations, and licensing for optimal performance and compliance.
  • Diagnose and address intricate CAD software and hardware problems, ensuring minimal disruption to the workflow.
  • Develop and deliver training to CAD users on company CAD standards, software features, shortcuts, and best practices. Create system documentation, governance standards, workflows.
  • Assist with routine maintenance of CAD workstations, including updates, patches, and hardware checks. Architect and maintain the overall CAD systems environment, including integration with engineering tools and data management platforms.
  • Monitor and manage CAD software licenses, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with discipline champions/leads and project managers to understand project-specific requirements and design technical solutions. Work closely with CAD designers and engineers to optimize their workflow and address their technical needs.
  • Provide assistance to discipline champions on advanced CAD related initiatives. Develop CADWorx pipe specifications, with little oversight for use by the piping design team. This includes preparing intermediate to advanced level specifications for project assignments detailing client performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
  • Stay updated on the latest CAD software developments and emerging technologies to provide proactive support. Evaluate emerging CAD tools and technology and make recommendations to leadership regarding adoption, configuration, and deployment.
  • Analyze design and system requirements and translate those requirements into detailed CADWorx or Plant3D pipe specifications, custom data structures, design rules, automation scripts, and template standards.
  • Create system rollout plans for new software or upgrades, set up software deployments.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years' experience as either an IT and/or CAD Support Technician
  • Proven experience with supporting CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, CADWorx, Navisworks).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, hardware, and networking
  • Proven experience with developing CADWorx Pipe Specifications.
  • Experience with support Laser Scan technology is a plus.
  • Previous Audubon Experience is a plus.
