Job Overview: Under the direction of the Service Manager, the Computer Prep Technician is an integral part of the Professional Services Team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient preparation of computer systems for our clients. Responsibilities will involve configuring, testing, and deploying hardware and software to meet client needs. Additionally, you will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues to maintain optimal system performance. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-centric approach.

Essential Functions

  • Work with our clients in a Professional Services capacity, specifically configuring laptops, desktops and workstations for multiple users and clients.
  • Provide timely workstation builds in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Participate in Help Desk coverage and other roles as needed.
  • Assemble, configure, and test computer systems, including desktops, laptops, and servers, based on client specifications and requirements.
  • Install and update operating systems, drivers, and essential software applications.
  • Implement security measures, including antivirus and firewall software, to ensure the protection of client systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on client systems promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, both remotely and on-site, to resolve technical problems and address system malfunctions.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing:
  • Conduct thorough testing of computer systems to ensure they meet the established quality standards and perform optimally.
  • Validate compatibility and functionality of hardware and software components.
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to order new equipment and ensure sufficient stock levels.
  • Create detailed documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and issue resolutions for internal reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with the service desk and support teams to address client inquiries and provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Assist in remote and on-site client support visits when required.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and advancements in computer hardware and software.
  • Suggest and implement improvements and upgrades to enhance system performance and efficiency.
  • Follow company policies and procedures for data security, confidentiality, and client service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Computer Prep Technician or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware components, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Familiarity with standard networking concepts and protocols.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
