The Network Architecture team is a highly skilled group that works on various technologies to architect, design, build, scale and maintain network infrastructure in support of Akamai's global platform. #CoreIPNetworking
Partner with the best
You'll collaborate with the team on designs, standards, new projects and installations. You'll work on the deployment, configuration, and automation of high-end routers and switches. You'll be instrumental in developing organizational standards to ensure the growth and stability of our global platform.
As a Senior Network Architect, you will be responsible for:
  • Architecting, documenting, building and supporting solutions that foster efficient and streamlined processes
  • Working with vendors and internal organizations to build out large points of presence across the globe
  • Designing large scale connectivity solutions including carrier transport solutions, dark fiber, and DWDM
  • Collaborating with the cross-functional teams on standards and processes for deployments and updating documentation accordingly
  • Developing router configuration standards for complex global networks

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Have 12 years relevant experience in complex networks and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent experience
  • Be familiar with building and deploying infrastructure and distributed systems that handle large scale network traffic
  • Demonstrate technical and commercial knowledge of Internet network topology and architecture, IP routing, and CDN/Compute/Security platforms
  • Demonstrate technical and commercial knowledge of dark fiber, DWDM systems, waves, Internet exchanges, and IP transit
  • Know how to evaluate telecommunications and datacenter offerings: waves, cross connects, MMRs, dark fiber, space, and power
  • Be a highly organized self-starter who is comfortable working with cross-functional teams

Compensation
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $139,300 - $250,700/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
