Job description

Job Title: CAD Technician 

Location: 3050 North Franklin Street, -, Christiansburg, VA, USA, 24073

Duration: 06 Months (Possibility of extension)

Pay Rate: $29.00/HR on W2

Scope of Position:

To provide design and drafting expertise to various areas of the plant in support of daily operations and continuous improvement and cost reductions projects. Apply technical design, knowledge, and practices to effectively accomplish technical drawing and assignments. Support projects to fulfill department goals and objectives in direct support of manufacturing.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Control all plant drawings and coordinate all drawing activities.

• Work directly with engineering and maintenance in sourcing drawings for aid in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical and electrical equipment issues.

• Interface with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to develop and design equipment for a manufacturing environment.

• Ensure all documentation for projects are completed such as drawings, spare parts, procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, and Calibration.

Required Education (minimum required for consideration):

2-year technical degree

Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, CAD/CAM, Manufacturing OR Equivalent experience with certificate of drafting.

Required Years and Area of Experience (minimum required for consideration): 2 years or more.

Required Skills: (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

1. Proficient with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D software package

2. Experience with Excel

3. Strong design/problem solving skills.

4. Ability to read and interpret drawings.

5. Ability to create full drawing packages and update detail drawings for projects and manufacturing.

6. Working knowledge to interpret and accurately implement GD&T.

7. Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually.

8. Self-motivated, can work independently, with high commitment.

9. Technical curiosity that will enable unique design solutions to the problem.

10. Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload with good planning and organizational skills.

11. Strong written and verbal communications skills.

1. AutoCAD design software.

2. Manufacturing work experience.

3. Working knowledge and hands-on experience of mechanical and electrical systems.
