Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer will facilitate the execution of the manufacture and integration of design in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. This role calls upon a breadth of mechanical, electrical, and industrial skills to ensure communication between manufacturing and design. This role will require assisting the Senior Manufacturing Engineer in the evaluation, development, and improvement of manufacturing methods and processes, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyze and plan space requirements, workflow, and equipment layouts to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Reviews new and revised product engineering designs to ensure manufacturability
  • Researches and creates processes supporting new builds
  • Utilizes data and lessons learned to optimize processes and workflow
  • Creates and communicates workflows, production plans, and work instructions (to include time estimates) for manufacture, integration, and testing of training simulators
  • Identifies tooling, fixture, and manufacturing requirements and designs or, working with manufacturing, procures solutions.
  • Serves as a project engineer to ensure coordination of larger projects, and may provide oversight of contractors
  • Liaison with technicians, suppliers and engineers to resolve questions with interpretation or execution of engineering throughout the product life cycle
  • Monitors production against schedule to identify shortages and coordinates with manufacturing to create effective solutions
  • Participates in identification of root cause and develops effective corrective actions
  • Trains and coaches production personnel in new methods and improvements
  • Interacts with leadership verbally and through presentations

  • Follows procedures and adheres to industry standards and local regulations in relation to design, manufacture, and safety.
  • Reads and understands drawings, parts lists, wire lists, wiring diagrams, schematics.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 drawing standards
  • Working knowledge of computer aided drafting tools, preferably AutoDesk Inventor and / or SolidWorks
  • Strong computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • BS degree in engineering or relevant field (significant work experience may be substituted for education)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a combination of manufacturing and engineering
