Job description

Position Summary:
As a Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping, delivering, and optimizing products, experiences, and/or services that positively impact our members and employees. You will drive strategy, roadmap, and execution by understanding our business strategy and goals, conducting and using research, and partnering with internal stakeholders, our credit union members, and third-party vendors. Assigned areas of focus may span financial products, digital tools, member-facing experiences, internal platforms, or service enhancements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of products, experiences, and/or services, including ideation, validation, development, launch, and iteration.
  • Define and articulate product vision, strategy, and decisions, aligning each with broader strategic goals, business objectives, and market needs.
  • Create, oversee, and prioritize a clear and compelling roadmap using input from key stakeholders.
  • Identify and execute on MVP, balancing tradeoffs with scope, speed, and quality, and ensuring value is delivered incrementally and iteratively.
  • Make data-informed decisions on pivots, enhancements, or sunsetting.
  • Lead, align, and collaborate with a cross-functional working group of business subject matter experts, project management, sales, marketing, service, compliance, finance, and others to manage successful launches, accomplish business goals, and ensure product/experience desirability, feasibility, and viability.
  • Conduct and synthesize user research, market research, and competitive analysis to identify pain points, gaps in offerings, new opportunities, and/or macro trends impacting our business, members, target market, and users.
  • Understand and translate qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable product direction, building empathy and championing member needs and user experience throughout development.
  • Work in tandem with development/engineering teams to ensure seamless product development.
  • Drive measurable outcomes through defining KPIs, tracking performance post-launch, and refining based on results, impact on NPS, and other measures.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops for project kick-offs, alignment, ideation, and prioritization, among others.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships, spanning day-to-day tactical work, evaluation of offerings, vendor selection, and overall strategic partnership.
  • Other roles and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to navigate team dynamics, build trust and consensus across disciplines, and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Superior interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, spanning development teams, executive-level audiences, and other cross-functional partnerships.
  • Proven ability to effectively elicit business and technical requirements.
  • Able to balance an analytical mindset with strategic thinking, shifting effortlessly between both as needed.
  • Curious, entrepreneurial, a self-starter, a lifelong learner, and a creative problem solver.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and desire to focus on iteration, progress over perfection, and agility.
  • Member/customer-centric focus with demonstrated ability to build empathy and deep consumer understanding with others.
  • Experience measuring product success through KPIs such as NPS, adoption, engagement, retention, or ROI.
  • Knowledge of product management terminology and frameworks, such as product lifecycle phases and prioritization frameworks.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, marketing, technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, or customer experience, with experience leading 0-1 product development or working with technology.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, including writing technical requirements, backlog management, sprint planning, and iteration reviews.
  • Adept at conducting and synthesizing discovery research, user experience research, market research, and/or competitive analysis.
  • Proficient with or education on human-centered design and design thinking principles.
  • Past management of vendor relationships, including SOWs, evaluation, and strategic partnership.
  • Skilled in leading projects and using indirect leadership to influence team members.
  • Mentorship or coaching of others on product management best practices.
  • Financial industry experience, especially with knowledge of compliance, fraud prevention, and/or fintechs, a plus.
  • Comfort working with technical teams on backend systems, APIs, and platform-level enhancements is a plus.
Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):
  • Long periods of sitting will occur regularly.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving 15 lbs or less.
  • Use of a computer and telephone required.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, or crouching may be required.
