Job description

Binnie is looking for a CAD Technician to join our Burnaby Development Division, which provides professional civil engineering services for local municipalities and private developers alike. Typical projects include road and utility improvements and replacements, stormwater management, utility modelling, erosion and sediment control for local and master planned residential, commercial, and industrial developments.


We have a full-time position available in our Burnaby Office, located near scenic Deer Lake. This is a hybrid role with a preference for candidates who can work from the office on a regular basis. Remote arrangements may be considered for highly qualified candidates.


You will be working with our talented and supportive team of experienced Project Managers, Engineers, Technologists, Designers, and CAD Technicians on a wide range of land development projects, carrying out CAD assignments to meet Binnie's high-quality standards.


You will strategize with your team on the best way to complete tasks. You will also utilize your strong technical skills and knowledge of 3D software to move us forward with changing technology. This role offers great mentorship opportunities.

YOUR ROLE:

  • Preparing Civil 3D drawings for municipal infrastructure including set-up, surfaces, alignments, profiles, sections, corridors and pipe networks
  • Performing and documenting quality control checks on CAD drafting work in accordance with Binnie's Quality Management Program
  • Adhering to various municipal CAD standards as well as Binnie's internal CAD standards
  • Assisting more senior CAD Technicians or designers with drafting and revisions

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 0 -3 years related work experience in a civil consulting engineering environment
  • Completed College Certificate in CAD or a related subject
  • Previous hands-on experience working with AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil infrastructure assignments preferred
  • A strong Interest working with software programming preferred
  • Familiarity with local municipal design standards is preferred
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team
  • Excellent attention to detail to consistently produce accurate, high-quality work
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $57,570 - $88,000 annually.
