Job description

Position Summary

Performs blood specimen collection, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested. Will process anatomic pathology and cytology specimens; assists pathologists and histotechs, as needed. Will supervise or lead lab assistant I and II positions, as requested.

Abrazo Surprise Hospital is located at the Loop 303 and Bell Road to serve the community of Surprise. The eight-bed inpatient hospital offers 24-hour emergency care and hospitalist and emergency physician coverage.

  • Minimum Requirements
    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Experience: 3 years of laboratory experience.
    • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Phlebotomy Certification where state law requires.
  • Preferred Requirements
    • Education: Associates degree in laboratory or medical related field from an accredited institution preferred.
    • Experience: Basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience preferred.
    • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar preferred.
