Lab Technician - Graham, KY

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBA&D) is a leader in energetic and non-energetic system solutions offered to aerospace, satellite and defense customers for a wide variety of applications.EBA&D products and capabilities set the U.S. standard and are highly sought after in the international community.

EBA&D seeks aLab Technician. This position is located inGraham, Ky.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Physical & Lot Acceptance Testing (primarily of explosive / energetic materials):
    • Execute mechanical and functional tests, including
      • Tensile (pull strength)
      • Function / Output / Timing
      • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
      • Water pressure
      • Temperature conditioning
  • Analytical Testing:
    • Perform standard wet chemistry analyses in accordance with approved test methods and procedures.
    • Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation, including:
      • Gas Chromatography (GC)
      • High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
      • Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
      • Elemental Analyzer (CHN)
    • Prepare samples, reagents, and calibration standards
  • Analyze data and documents results in laboratory systems and test reports.
  • Troubleshoot routine analytical issues and escalate complex problems as needed.
  • Support internal, external, and regulatory audits as required.
  • Assist with method validation, calibration activities, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Safety:
    • Strictly follow all laboratory and explosive safety protocols.
    • Properly handle hazardous and energetic materials.
    • Participate in required safety and compliance training.

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree (preferred) in:
      • Chemistry
      • Chemical Engineering
      • Materials Science or related technical discipline
  • Experience
    • 1-3 years of laboratory experience preferred
    • Experience with analytical instrumentation strongly preferred.
    • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, defense, chemical, or similar) is a plus.
    • Experience working with hazardous or energetic materials is a plus.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of basic chemistry principles and laboratory techniques.
    • Ability to follow detailed written procedures precisely.
    • Strong documentation and data integrity practices.
    • Proficiency in basic computer systems and laboratory data entry.
    • Mechanical aptitude for physical testing equipment.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
    • Comfortable working in dynamic and safety-sensitive manufacturing environment.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to work in laboratory and indoor and outdoor production test environments.
  • May require lifting up to 50 Lbs.
  • Use of PPE required (safety glasses, lab coat, gloves, etc.).
