Job Functions:
  • Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as prioritizing work as necessary.
  • Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of the System (organizing, and housekeeping, assisting others).
  • Organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Perform routine and specialized assignments and demonstrate proficiency and understanding of the procedures in the areas of a clinical laboratory under the direction of the laboratory leadership.
  • Responsible for all functions required by the outside laboratories and assures proper collection of information for billing purposes when necessary.
  • Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens; arranging reports for delivery; keeping work surfaces clean and orderly.
  • Maintain appropriate records for specimen problems or rejection.
  • Review or correct patient orders ensuring that appropriate tests, location of testing, and adequate sample type and integrity are used.
  • LIS audits, maintaining laboratory events logs, outside order audits, scanning, faxing pathology reports and various laboratory results in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with the Medical Lab Tech clinical staff and will be required to perform some of their duties when necessary; must maintain current certification to do so.
  • Quality assurance liaison for reference laboratories and hospitals -branch support daily, specimen issues, insurance/ patient information, tracking patient results.
  • Provides supplies to outside laboratories.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Educational/ Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED (required)
CMA certification (preferred)
Minimum of two years' experience in patient care/clinical setting (preferred)
