Position Summary
We are looking for an RN that is BSN or MSN prepared to share your valuable experience and education with our practical nursing students as they start their nursing journey. Under the direction of the Practical Nursing Program (PNP) Manager, will be responsible to provide clinical instruction and supervision of students in the Practical Nursing Program. Some didactic instruction may also be required.
Additional responsibilities include assistance with curriculum and program development, implementation and evaluation; assist with the development and supervision of skills lab and simulation activities; evaluation of student competencies; developing partnerships with local employers and other educational partners in support of programmatic and accrediting body goals for student completion, placement and licensure; attendance at faculty meetings and oversight of program assets.
Essential Functions
1. Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean, and productive learning environment; Develop, implement and evaluate practical nursing curriculum based on national nursing standards.
2. Utilize with proficiency the college approved learning management system to manage and deliver the curriculum.
3. Provide clinical instruction/supervision of students at approved clinical sites.
4. Assist in identifying and evaluating clinical placements.
5. Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical assignments, skills labs and simulation activities.
6. Maintain student records to include verification of attendance and competency completion.
7. Meet programmatic and accrediting body goals for student completion, placement, and licensure.
8. Assist students with job placement and applicable industry or state certifications/licenses in support of meeting placement and licensure/certification goals.
9. Adhere to OSHA standards as well as college, program, and clinical facility policies and protocols.
10. Exemplify, motivate, and advise students in the areas of program and college expectations and appropriate work behavior and dress standards. Communicate with counselors, supervisor, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success.
11. Maintain contact with local employers and other educational partners; seek and implement feedback to continuously improve program curricula and training facilities to meet industry standards in support of completion, placement and certification/licensure.
12. Complete ongoing professional development to increase technical expertise and instructional skills.
13. Keep program manager apprised of positive outcomes as well as any issues, concerns or resource needs; recommend purchases.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. A minimum of six (6) years of combined education and related work experience in the nursing field, including at least two (2) years of full-time paid professional employment. (medical-surgical experience preferred)
  • Ex: Associate's Degree with 4 years of professional clinical experience
  • Ex: Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of professional clinical experience

2. An Associate's Degree in Nursing is required. A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Degree must be from a nursing education program that is accredited by an accrediting body for nursing education approved by the United States Department of Education

3. Current and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Utah.
4. Teaching experience desirable.
5. Supervisory experience desirable.
6. Certified in American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers.
7. Current Immunization status as required by approved clinical sites.
8. Strong communication, team building and leadership skills.
9. Proficient in using computers, computer technology, and computer software related to position.
10. Spanish-speaking proficiency desirable.
Physical Requirements:
1. Walk long distances, standing for extended periods of time, sustain repetitive movement, maintain physical tolerance (stand/walk/work on your feet for 8-12 hours at a time with minimal breaks).
2. Risks found in typical office and/or hospital clinical setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office and clinical equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

WOKRING HOURS:
Schedule varies; includes 12-hour shifts on Wednesdays and occasional rotating Saturdays
