Job description

MANUFACTURING PROCESSES DUTIES:
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops and implements manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods, equipment, and new technologies; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods and control systems; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes; yielding in maximum efficiency.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing corrective action for nonconforming parts.

OTHER ENGINEERING DUTIES:
  • Programming of machine and measuring equipment; investigate programming equipment failures; diagnose faulty operations; provide solutions.
  • Proactively analyze, identify, and enact procedures and/or processes to resolve production problems and/or minimize cost.
  • Design of manufacturing equipment fixturing, tooling, gauging design. machine programming, quality engineering process design and implementation.
  • Customer blueprint interpretation and internal print design and creation.
  • Support Sales and Supply Chain with customer requirement on value-added process manufacturing.
  • Support Quality with quality engineering processes.
  • Support customer quoting activity including providing cost estimations, process selection, cycle time development, and identification of risks.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; maintain product and process data through writing computer programs, entering data, etc.
  • Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians; provide manufacturing engineering information by communicating solutions/answers to requests/questions.
  • Lead and participate in Research and Development (R&D) programs aimed at expanding current capabilities.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Four-year degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering (or related) required.
4+ Years of CAD Experience - SolidWorks Preferred
4+ Years of CAM experience - Mastercam Preferred
4+ Years of programming, operating, and process development for 3/4/5 - axis CNC milling machines
Experience with 3/4/5 axis milling machines, surface grinders, turning, wire EDM, CMM experience a plus
Experience holding tight GD&T tolerances (0.0010" or less)
Experience working with difficult materials or high-value components
Experience with developing fixturing strategy for complex parts
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend engineering instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
